Mont Blanc ultramarathon trail kicks off amid growing environmental concern
The annual UTMB, the flagship race of the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc week, kicked off on Friday with 2,500 participants. As the race continues to attract more runners each year, local residents are increasingly concerned about its environmental impact.
In France, this Friday, August 28 marks the start in Chamonix of the Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc race, one of the most difficult in the world. A total of 174 km to be covered and 10,000 meters of positive elevation. But beyond the performance, this race is now the victim of its immense success; it is expected to reach nearly 50,000 spectators, which provokes the controversy of an event that has become too commercial.
