- On Monday, June 22, Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, 57, and Scott Drewitt-Barlow, 32, appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court facing 18 additional charges, with a provisional trial date set for January 18, 2027.
- Prosecutors allege the couple "targeted young males," recruiting and grooming them between 2013 and 2026, prompting Essex Police to charge them with multiple counts of rape and sexual assault.
- The defendants own non-league football club Maldon & Tiptree FC and are known for reality television appearances. Authorities searched their Danbury home during the initial investigation in May.
- Both men remain remanded in custody until a plea hearing scheduled for September, when they will be asked to respond to allegations including sexual activity with a child and human trafficking.
- Two other individuals, Richard Howard-Smith and Eldred Reames, also face related charges and are due in court. Essex Police urge anyone with information to submit it via the Major Incident Public Portal.
