- Following the NATO summit in Turkey, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed on July 9 that Ukraine will receive a new United States aid package including additional PAC-3 interceptors for Patriot air defense systems.
- An acute munitions shortage left Kyiv vulnerable after Ukraine was unable to stop 23 ballistic missiles and six hypersonic Zircon missiles Russia launched against the capital during recent attacks.
- Zelenskyy outlined a three-part strategy to secure air defenses, stating, "First, we're seeking a license from the U.S. to manufacture Patriot systems," alongside European funding programs and partnerships to obtain additional missiles.
- Domestic production of the Freya anti-ballistic system is also being pursued; the project will be chaired by Ukraine and comprise up to seven countries with specialized manufacturing facilities.
- Beyond air defense, Ukraine is sharing specialized aerial and maritime drone technologies with the United States for evaluation, aiming to transition into a broader, formalized drone deal between the two countries.
