Saudi Arabia in Talks to Buy Air-Defense Equipment From Ukraine

  • On March 11, two unnamed sources within Ukraine's defence industry told the Kyiv Independent that a Saudi arms company has signed to buy Ukrainian-made interceptor missiles and Riyadh and Kyiv are negotiating a 'huge deal'.
  • Iran has launched more than 2,100 attack drones and at least 688 ballistic missiles, and US and allied forces have fired over 1,000 PAC-3 interceptors, straining global interceptor stockpiles.
  • Ukraine has built a layered early-warning and air-defence system and received 11 requests for assistance, while Skyfall can ship between 5,000 and 10,000 units once approved.
  • On March 10, the German government said it will club with European allies to provide 35 PAC-3 interceptors for Ukraine and continue supplying parts for Patriot and IRIS-T systems.
  • Analysts note Kyiv can convert counter-Shahed expertise into export sales, but competition for scarce US-made interceptors may limit gains, as Ukraine has received 600 PAC-3 missiles in total since the invasion.
