NATO European countries and Canada will commit, at the NATO Summit, to provide €70 billion in military aid to Ukraine in 2026 and 2027.
NATO wants to promise Ukraine a new billion package. Over two years, at least 70 billion euros per year will be spent. Because the US has largely stopped its aid, Germany is likely to bear the largest share.
According to dpa, the 32 alliance states agree on 140 billion euros over two years. Germany is expected to take the largest share.
Shortly before the Ankara Summit, the 32 NATO countries agreed on additional support for Ukraine.
Increasing Europe's defense capabilities and strengthening the defense industry are two of the main points at the NATO summit in Ankara next week. But for Sweden, the third point of the meeting carries extra weight – securing Ukraine's financing.
