News Comment: UNHCR’s Grandi urges world to remember Ukraine’s displaced and war-affected people

As we mark three years of devastating war in Ukraine, millions of ordinary Ukrainians – one third of the current population – are in desperate need of humanitarian aid. Their plight should be uppermost in everyone's minds, even as political events take centre stage.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has pointed out that, when the Russian invasion of Ukraine began for three years, some 10.6 million Ukrainians had been forced to leave their homes in search of security, either on the national territory or fleeing to other countries.

Almost eleven million people in Ukraine have been expelled from home by the Russian war of aggression, as the UN reported.
