Ukraine hits Russian energy targets and denies striking Kremlin-occupied nuclear plant
Kyiv said 212 of 299 Russian drones were shot down as it denied striking the occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant.
Ukraine launched fresh strikes on Russian energy sites overnight into Sunday, with drone debris igniting a fuel storage facility in Rostov and an oil refinery in Saratov.
Kyiv has stepped up attacks on Russian oil and gas facilities in recent months, arguing the energy sector directly fuels Moscow's more than four-year-old invasion.
Separately, Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev accused Ukraine of a "deliberate" attack on the Kremlin-occupied Zaporizhzhia plant, while Kyiv denied the claim as "yet another propaganda ploy."
Rafael Grossi, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, voiced "serious concern" following the incident, while Ukraine's state nuclear supervisory agency demanded onsite verification of Russian claims.
Elsewhere, Ukraine's air force reported Sunday it shot down 212 of 299 drones launched by Russia overnight, with 14 reaching targets and debris falling in five locations.
