"I invite everyone; it will be the largest parade in history," said Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka, Deputy Minister of National Defense, in an interview with "Question of the Day," inviting people to Saturday's Polish Army Day ceremonies in Warsaw. Aleksandra Pawlicka assured the guest that the absence of Ukrainian soldiers from the parade had a simple explanation and "there's no point in looking for conspiracy theories."
Polish Army Day is celebrated every year on August 15 and commemorates the Battle of Warsaw in 1920, in which Polish troops, as a result of a successful counteroffensive, pushed back Bolshevik forces from near Warsaw and began pushing them east.
The parade in Warsaw will feature soldiers from allied forces, including the United States, Canada, Sweden, Lithuania, and Romania. Ukrainian soldiers will be absent.
Due to the parade and Polish Army Day celebrations in Warsaw, drivers and passengers of public transport should prepare for significant disruptions. Wisłostrada will be closed on Friday, and further traffic restrictions and bus and tram route changes will be introduced on Saturday.
Ukraine has not been invited to a military parade in Poland, which will take place in Warsaw on Saturday, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry told national broadcaster Suspilne.
