Ukraine destroys Russian drone unit after Kherson infant killed, child 'should never have been a target,' governor says
KHERSON OBLAST, UKRAINE, JUL 13 – Ukrainian forces used five FPV drones to kill the Russian drone crew responsible for a kamikaze attack that killed a child and injured his grandmother, General Staff said.
- On July 12, 2025, Ukrainian forces carried out a targeted strike in the Kherson region, eliminating a Russian FPV-drone operator unit linked to a fatal attack.
- The strike followed a Russian Molniya kamikaze drone attack on July 9 that killed one-year-old Dmytryk in the village of Pravdyne and injured his grandmother.
- Ukrainian intelligence identified a five-story vacant building in occupied Hola Prystan as the launch site for enemy drones, from which Russian forces sent out five FPV drones in four successive waves.
- Four of the five FPV drones deployed by the Ukrainian military accurately struck the target, with no additional launches detected from the site afterward; Governor Oleksandr Prokudin emphasized that Dmytro was not an appropriate target and expressed gratitude to the soldiers for their response.
