US Signs Deal to Nearly Triple PAC-3 MSE Missile Propulsion Production

- On Tuesday, L3Harris reached a seven-year framework agreement with the Defense Department to ramp up solid rocket motor production for PAC-3 missiles and THAAD interceptors, the agency announced.
- The Defense Department initiated these agreements to boost weapons production following the war in Ukraine and operations in Iran, addressing a long-standing chokepoint in the fractured solid rocket motor industrial base.
- L3Harris stated it will "nearly triple production" for PAC-3 products and quadruple THAAD components, including the Lethality Enhancer and Attitude Control Motors, with teams working at the factory floor in Camden.
- Pentagon acquisition czar Michael Duffey called the deal "a decisive win for the warfighter," while Michael Cadenazzi noted L3Harris has made "phenomenal" progress since acquiring Aerojet Rocketdyne in 2023.
- The department has also inked production deals for Tomahawk and AMRAAM munitions, with both L3Harris contracts expected to be definitized later this year, pending the fiscal 2027 budget outcome.
