Brits Told How to Get ‘Best View’ of Full Buck Moon This Week
The moon’s brightness may limit meteor viewing as the Delta Aquariids peak and the Buck Moon reaches its full phase.
Stargazers across the UK can observe two celestial events this week, as the July full moon reaches peak fullness and the annual Delta Aquariid meteor shower approaches maximum activity.
Named after the season when male deer regrow antlers, the Buck Moon reaches peak fullness on July 29, appearing full to the naked eye overnight on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Peaking between Thursday, July 30 and Friday, July 31, the Delta Aquariid meteor shower is best viewed from dark locations using the naked eye rather than binoculars.
Clear skies are expected across central, southern, and eastern England, though Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland may experience variable cloud cover and occasional showers during the week.
Beyond this week's events, the Perseid meteor shower remains active between July 17 and August 24, alongside a partial solar eclipse expected in the UK on August 12.
