Diners Have Just Days to Use Loyalty Points at Restaurant Chain Shutting 195 Sites
Whitbread said the closures are part of a five-year overhaul aimed at cutting £250 million in costs and redeploying many of the 3,800 affected workers.
Whitbread confirmed that all 106 Beefeater restaurants across the UK will close on Thursday, September 10, 2026, as part of a major business restructuring.
Under its Accelerating Growth Plan, Whitbread will convert restaurant sites into 3,600 additional Premier Inn rooms; Whitbread CEO Dominic Paul said the new plan "builds on our strengths and drives a significant acceleration of our strategy" to reduce costs by £250 million.
The restructuring places around 3,800 roles at risk, though Whitbread reached an agreement to sell 53 sites to Queensway Inns, which could allow around 900 team members to transfer.
Customers of The Beefeater Grill Reward Club must convert all loyalty points into vouchers by today, August 24, 2026, as vouchers will not be accepted after Monday, August 31.
Whitbread plans to sell around £1.5 billion in freehold properties to fund growth; Dominic Paul said the group intends to transform into a "higher-margin, higher-returning pure-play hotel business.
