Andy Burnham Accused of 'Concealing' Man City Links After Dinner Meetings with Chairman
Records show two hospitality dinners with Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak that were omitted from a Greater Manchester Combined Authority statement.
Records of two hospitality dinners between British Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak were omitted from a Greater Manchester Combined Authority statement released on Monday.
The GMCA stated it only publishes entries from the current mayoral term, excluding the 2017 and 2018 dinners valued at £300 and approximately £699 respectively.
Reform UK's Robert Jenrick accused Burnham of having "concealed his extensive links to Man City's owners," while Shadow sports minister Louie French demanded full transparency regarding the deleted entries.
During Wednesday's Prime Minister's Questions, Burnham denied that club executives raised Premier League financial rules charges with him, saying he is happy for "everything to be set out in full."
This scrutiny emerges as the club remains under investigation for "systematically" breaking Premier League rules, a verdict it is appealing, while Burnham previously stated he would be "really concerned" if owners sold up.
