UK Man Released on Bail After Boy, 3, 'Ended Up' in Crocodile Enclosure
Police arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder as the boy remained in critical but stable condition, officials said.
A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder Thursday after a three-year-old boy ended up inside a crocodile enclosure at an English zoo.
The toddler was rescued from the reptile pen with serious injuries following the early afternoon incident at Johnson’s of Old Hurst zoo in Huntingdonshire, near Cambridge.
The child remains in critical but stable condition at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, where specially trained officers are currently providing support to his family.
The suspect and the young boy are believed to be complete strangers, according to a statement released by Detective Inspector Verity McCann, who described the event as highly distressing.
Detectives have launched an urgent witness appeal to piece together the exact circumstances, interviewing visitors who were present at the family-owned wildlife park when the incident occurred at 1:24 p.m.
