UIDAI Launches Aadhaar’s Mascot ‘Udai’, to Humanise Digital Identity
Udai mascot, chosen from 875 national entries, aims to enhance communication on Aadhaar services for over a billion Indians, promoting trust through public participation, UIDAI said.
- On Thursday, the Unique Identification Authority of India launched Udai, a resident-facing mascot, and Neelkanth Mishra, Chairman, UIDAI unveiled it at a function in Thiruvananthapuram.
- Through a national contest, UIDAI held design and naming competitions on the MyGov platform that attracted 875 entries from across the country.
- UIDAI said the mascot will simplify communication on Aadhaar updates, authentication, offline verification and selective data sharing, while the Ministry of Electronics and IT said it will make Aadhaar information more relatable and people-friendly.
- UIDAI said the launch simplifies Aadhaar communication for over a billion residents of India, and officials noted the strong response shows citizens deeply connect with Aadhaar as a public good.
- The competitions produced winners including Arun Gokul, mascot designer , Idris Dawaiwala , Krishna Sharma , Riya Jain , and Maharaj Saran Chellapilla .
