‘Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle’ Breaks Box Office Record On Release Day
JAPAN, JUL 18 – The first film in the trilogy earned ¥5.52 billion ($37.4 million) and drew 3.84 million viewers in its opening weekend, breaking multiple Japanese box office records.
- Recently, Ufotable disclosed that animator and director Shinya Ohira worked on a fight sequence in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, revealing an unexpected Studio Ghibli link.
- Before working on Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, Shinya Ohira initially joined Studio Ghibli on “Only Yesterday”, while Hayao Miyazaki sent him a handwritten letter asking him to work on Porco Rosso.
- On One Piece episode 1072, Shinya Ohira, who animated the Gear 5 scene, appears on a Fuji TV show recalling a discussion with Hayao Miyazaki, providing insight into his career.
- Surprisingly, Hayao Miyazaki hasn’t watched it but appreciated its new heights, while Shinya Ohira’s contribution remains unknown, according to recent reports.
- Next month, the film will debut in the United States and Canada on September 12, 2025, as part of its international rollout scheduled between September 11 and September 25.
