FULLERTON, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara Softball team's advancement in the Big West Championship came to a halt as No. 2 seed Hawai'i defeated No. 3 seed Gauchos. After an extra-inning battle against UC San Diego to advance in the tournament, the Gauchos once again had numerous offensive opportunities but could not come up with the runs needed to break through.

FULLERTON, Calif. — University of Hawai'i softball pitcher Taryn Irimata fired a complete-game shutou, while the Hawai'i offense struck early and never looked back against third-seeded UC Santa Barbara in the Big West Championship on Thursday at Anderson Family Field. With the win, the second-seeded Rainbow Wahine (30-18) advanced in the winner's bracket to take on top-seeded Cal State Fullerton on Friday.
