Uber to Acquire Popular Parking App SpotHero
Uber will integrate SpotHero’s parking reservations into its app, covering over 400 cities with 13,000 parking locations to enhance user convenience.
- On Monday, Uber said it is acquiring SpotHero and will offer a parking reservation experience powered by SpotHero inside its app for events, venues and airports.
- With strong delivery growth, Uber's delivery business led its strongest revenue expansion this quarter, extending beyond restaurants into grocery and retail delivery after better-than-expected fourth quarter results earlier this month.
- The parking app says SpotHero, a Chicago-based company, raised $50 million in 2019 and offers reservations at more than 13,000 garages across over 400 cities.
- Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said, "For the moments when people do choose to drive, SpotHero on the Uber app will make the experience easier than ever, and bring more people into the Uber ecosystem," highlighting platform expansion.
- Regulators must approve the transaction, and it is expected to close in the first half of this year amid Uber's $146 billion market cap versus Lyft's just over $5 billion and DoorDash's over $71 billion.
