UAE says Iran attacked ADNOC vessel with missile in Strait of Hormuz
ADNOC said no one was hurt after the strike, while the company said 15 of its vessels have been attacked since the conflict began.
- On Saturday, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company reported that one of its vessels was targeted by a missile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz in the early hours; no crew members were injured and the situation was brought under control.
- Shipping in the waterway has faced repeated disruptions since the conflict began five months ago, with ADNOC reporting 15 vessels hit by missiles and drones since the start, including three this week.
- The United Arab Emirates condemned the incident, with The UAE Foreign Ministry calling it "the hostile Iranian attack" and accusing the Revolutionary Guards of "acts of piracy" that violate a Security Council resolution.
- Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps spokesperson Hossein Mohebbi said the reopening of the Strait is subject to the conditions of the Islamic Republic, rejecting claims the issue is tied to Iran-Oman negotiations.
- Despite reports of progress on Friday regarding potential talks to reopen the waterway, the conflict continues to drive up freight rates and create significant security concerns for energy exports worldwide.
