The suspect, Ö.B., who was detained in connection with the forest fire in İzmir, has been arrested. The fire started when a spark from a sledgehammer used by Ö.B., the landowner who was working in a hobby garden on the edge of the forest, ignited dry grass.
Two separate forest fires that occurred on July 6th in the Bornova and Buca districts of Izmir highlighted the devastating effects of human negligence. In Bornova, a suspect who caused a fire by creating sparks while cutting metal was released, while in Buca, a landowner who burned 9 acres of his field while working with a sledgehammer was arrested.
Two suspects who caused the forest fires in the Bornova and Buca districts of Izmir were taken into custody by the gendarmerie. A total of 11 acres of forest and 6 acres of agricultural land were damaged in the fires.
