Two Mumbai-Based Firms, 5 Indian Nationals Face US Sanctions over Iran Oil Trade
The sanctions target 10 entities, six individuals and five vessels as Washington seeks to cut off millions in Iranian oil revenue, officials said.
On Thursday, The United States imposed sanctions on two Mumbai-based firms—SSPL Solutions Private Limited and Samudra Marine Services Private Limited—for facilitating Iranian petroleum product imports.
This action is part of Washington's broader crackdown on Iran under Operation Economic Outcast; the State Department alleged these entities channeled millions of dollars to the regime, bolstering critical revenue streams.
The State Department is sanctioning 10 entities, six individuals, and five vessels connected to Iranian-origin trade, while the Treasury Department sanctioned 17 entities and their shadow fleet vessels to deprive Tehran of funds.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said, "Treasury is starving the tyrannical regime in Tehran of the money it uses to wage war in the region, and we will continue exposing those who enable the regime's oil sales."
The United States blocked five individuals—Dhwani, Nisarg Vora, Ketan Kochikar, Bhupendrasingh Sahu, and Harishyam Hariharan Chundakattil—from firm transactions and authorized a temporary wind-down period for Samudra Marine Services through October 23.
