Two-thirds of Americans want quick end to Iran war even if goals unachieved, Reuters/Ipsos poll finds

- A Reuters and Ipsos poll found 66 per cent of Americans want the US to quickly end its involvement in the Iran war, even if that means failing to achieve goals set by the President Trump administration.
- The month-long war has spread across the Middle East, killing thousands of people and hitting the global economy with soaring energy prices that fuel inflation fears.
- Gasoline prices rose above $4 a gallon on March 30, according to GasBuddy, while 60 per cent of respondents in the survey of 1,021 people said they disapprove of US military strikes on Iran.
- Republicans are divided on the conflict, with 40 per cent of Trump's party supporting a quick end and 57 per cent favoring longer involvement, as they face midterm elections in the House and Senate.
- Two in three Americans expect gas prices to worsen over the next year, while more than half of respondents expect the conflict to negatively impact their personal finances.
