Two Israeli Soldiers Killed in Southern Lebanon Attack
- The IDF said on Sunday that a Hezbollah ambush at a new outpost on the Ramim Ridge near Margaliot killed two soldiers, including Staff Sergeant Maher Khatar of the Combat Engineering Corps.
- The IDF has maintained outposts along the Israel-Lebanon border since its 2024 incursion, and last week deployed additional forces, ordered mass evacuations, and moved north to establish a new defensive line.
- An engineering squad from Division 91 used D9 bulldozers to recover a stuck Puma-type armored personnel carrier from the 601st Battalion when a projectile hit a bulldozer's fuel tank, causing a large explosion; preliminary reports said the projectile was a mortar shell or anti-tank missile.
- Officials noted these are the first military fatalities since the war with Iran began last week, and the regional brigade said forces carried out orderly defense-management procedures while prepared to adapt.
