Two holidays were celebrated in Narva on May 9. Russia organized a large Victory Day concert on the banks of the Narva River, and Europe Day celebrants came to listen to Estonian musicians in front of the town hall.

Two parallel value systems divided the border townspeople into two camps: some celebrated Europe Day, others Russia's Victory Day. However, European symbolism in the city prevailed, and if there was a symbol of aggression anywhere, it remained hidden from our eyes.
