Two charged after woman, 30, shot dead outside bar in Sheffield
Police say the victim was an innocent bystander, and a fundraiser for her funeral and her son has raised nearly £10,500.
On Friday, the Crown Prosecution Service authorized charges against Jemele Rhone, 30, and Deiryen Dyce, 32, in connection with the fatal shooting of 30-year-old Shanice Brookes outside Sheffield's One Four One bar on May 25.
Shortly before 2:45 AM on Bank Holiday Monday, shots were fired outside the One Four One bar on West Street during an altercation, striking Brookes, an innocent bystander who died in hospital despite medics' efforts.
Rhone faces murder, firearm possession, and criminal property charges, while Dyce is charged with assisting an offender, ammunition possession, drug offenses, and criminal property. Both remain remanded in custody pending Sheffield Magistrates' Court appearance.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles urges witnesses to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, while a previously arrested 30-year-old man has been released and is no longer a suspect.
Family tributes describe Brookes as an 'amazing mum' with a bright future ahead, while a community fundraiser has raised £10,500 toward a £20,000 goal to support her son's future.
