Odisha Horror: Brothers Try to Bury 5 Month Pregnant Teen Alive After Raping Her
JAGATSINGHPUR DISTRICT, ODISHA, INDIA, JUL 25 – Two brothers allegedly raped a minor repeatedly for a year, resulting in pregnancy, and attempted to bury her alive to hide the crime, police said. The third accused remains at large.
- On July 25, 2025, Odisha Police detained two siblings aged 60 and 58 in Jagatsinghpur, accused of repeatedly raping a minor girl for nearly a year and attempting to kill her.
- The arrest followed a complaint by the victim's father, who initially faced pressure from a local panchayat leader to suppress the case through bribes and threats.
- The victim, who lost her mother young and belongs to a poor family, is now seven months pregnant and receiving critical treatment at the district hospital; a third accused, Tulu Babu, is absconding.
- Police have filed charges against the two brothers and Tulu Babu under sections related to rape, the POCSO Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and are actively searching for the fugitive accused.
- The incident sparked opposition protests alleging law and order failure by the one-year-old BJP government, while BJP MLA Amarendra Das promised stringent action against the culprits.
