The Sumud Flotilla, which set out to end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza with humanitarian supplies, was attacked by Israel off the coast of Gaza. While news of the attack and detentions drew international condemnation, two Turkish activists detained by Israel returned home.
Antalya activists Hakan Şimşek and Alparslan Aslan, who were part of the Global Sumud Flotilla, which set out to break the Gaza blockade and deliver humanitarian aid, returned to Türkiye after being detained by Israel. Aslan said, "We were imprisoned for a few days, but Palestinians have been suffering for 80 years."
