Twins run into rally-killing double play, fall to Cubs
Josh Bell and Brooks Lee were thrown out on the bases, spoiling a potential bases-loaded rally for the Twins after Kody Clemens hit two homers.
On Saturday afternoon at Wrigley Field, the Chicago Cubs defeated the Twins 6-2 after a ninth-inning baserunning miscue ended a potential rally.
Twins starter Taj Bradley struggled with his command, allowing five runs and three walks across the first three innings as Cubs hitters capitalized.
Kody Clemens provided all the offense for the Twins, hitting his 17th and 18th home runs of the season, though he struck out to end the game.
Josh Bell was tagged out at third and Brooks Lee at first during the ninth-inning rally; manager Derek Shelton said, "We just didn't run with our head up."
The Cubs now lead the Twins in the standings as both teams continue their series at Wrigley Field.
