- The Dutch-flagged MV Hondius arrives off Tenerife around dawn on Sunday to evacuate nearly 150 passengers, with World Health Organisation Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus coordinating the offshore operation.
- Three passengers—a Dutch husband and wife and a German woman—have died from the outbreak, and the Andes virus, the only hantavirus type transmitting between humans, has been confirmed among patients.
- The WHO has confirmed six cases out of eight suspected ones. Spokeswoman Maria Van Kerkhove said "we classify everybody on board as what we call a high-risk contact," though the public risk remains low.
- Regional authorities refused to allow the vessel to dock at Granadilla de Abona, forcing the ship to remain offshore while passengers are screened and evacuated between Sunday and Monday.
- Despite the medical emergency unfolding offshore, daily life in Spain's Canary Islands remains largely normal, with residents continuing to swim, shop at markets, and sit at cafes.
