TV crime drama axed after three series following ‘open-ended’ final episode
AcornTV said the open-ended series will not return, leaving fans without answers after 3 seasons and a romance storyline unresolved.
AcornTV has confirmed that the cozy crime drama Whitstable Pearl will not return for a fourth season, ending the series after three seasons to focus on other projects.
Premiering in 2021, the series starred Kerry Godliman as Pearl Nolan, a seafood restaurant owner turned private detective, building a loyal audience of more than 400,000 viewers.
A TV insider for The Sun noted viewers are "gutted" as the "will they, won't they" romantic arc between Pearl and DCI Mike McGuire remains permanently unfinished.
Author Mrs Wassmer confirmed no fourth season is planned, though the 11-book mystery series will continue; she thanked the cast and crew for their contributions.
Godliman will star in the upcoming ITV reboot of Dalziel and Pascoe, appearing as Inspector Andrea Dalziel alongside Nina Singh for viewers seeking more crime drama.
