First Lady Emine Erdoğan, wife of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, stated regarding the 9th anniversary of the Zero Waste Movement: "Nine years ago, we took a step with the intention of protecting the fertility of the soil, the value of water, and the balance of nature. Our Zero Waste journey, which began in 2017, has today transformed into a powerful environmental mobilization that transcends our borders."
In a message released on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of the Zero Waste Movement, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum drew attention to Turkey's COP31 Presidency and emphasized the need to change consumption habits and resource usage in the fight against climate change.

The Zero Waste Movement, which started on September 27, 2017 under the patronage of the esteemed Mrs. Emine Erdoğan, initiated a major transformation that changed our perspective on resources with its call to 'don't throw away, recycle'."
In a statement on social media marking the 9th anniversary of Zero Waste, Minister Kurum reminded that the movement began on September 27, 2017, under the patronage of Emine Erdoğan. Kurum stated that this understanding was carried into the global climate struggle with Türkiye's COP31 Presidency.
