Erdogan said Turkiye will support Pakistan’s ceasefire push as the leaders discussed Middle East tensions and agreed to deepen economic ties.

  • On Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum to discuss Middle East peace efforts.
  • Before arriving in Turkiye, Shehbaz visited Saudi Arabia and Qatar to discuss regional developments, as Pakistan intensifies mediation efforts between the United States and Iran to end Middle East conflicts.
  • Both leaders emphasized "effectively utilising the current window of opportunity to advance durable and lasting regional peace," while Erdogan pledged continued support for Pakistan's diplomatic initiatives.
  • The meeting concluded with both leaders reaffirming their resolve to strengthen their strategic partnership, agreeing to convene the 8th High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting in Ankara later this year.
  • Shehbaz also held a trilateral meeting with Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to exchange views on regional developments, including the situation in Gaza and Palestine.
