In July 2025, after a 40-year civil war in Turkey, the PKK symbolically laid down the weapons. Now the reconciliation with the Kurds is to be laid on a legal basis: a framework law for the peace process was announced, it is to settle disarmament, return and reintegration. Parliament President Numan Kurtulmuş called for Turkish-Kurdish brotherhood.
