Turf Writer, Author Mary Rampellini Passes Away at 53

Mary Rampellini, a long-time correspondent for the Daily Racing Form, passed away on Saturday, July 4, reported the National Turf Writers and Broadcasters on Monday. She was 53. Longtime Daily Racing Form reporter Rampellini dies at 53

Mary Rampellini, a reporter and handicapper with the Daily Racing Form, died Saturday in Texas. Her death was first reported Monday by Matt Hegarty at Daily Racing Form, where Rampellini had worked full-time since 2002. She freelanced with DRF for the five years before that, starting in 1997 when Lone Star Park opened. Rampellini continued to cover Lone Star and Oaklawn on a regular basis for DRF, along with other midwestern and southern tracks.…
