Duane Davis Said He’d Never Told Anyone the Story. Jurors Just Heard Him Walk Police Through the Night Tupac Was Killed
Prosecutors say Davis planned the retaliation shooting after an attack on his nephew, and jurors heard his 2008 interview admitting he handed over the gun.
In the ongoing Las Vegas murder trial of Duane 'Keffe D' Davis, jurors heard a 2008 recorded interview where the defendant discussed the 1996 shooting death of hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur.
Prosecutors contend Davis planned the retaliation shooting following a casino lobby brawl at the MGM Grand, where Shakur's entourage attacked Davis' nephew, Orlando Anderson.
Defense attorney Michael Sanft dismissed the prosecution's reliance on Davis' 2019 memoir, 'Compton Street Legend,' labeling the state's narrative as 'fiction' and 'full of crap.'
According to the recording, Davis handed the weapon to Deandrae 'Freaky' Smith after spotting Shakur's vehicle, initiating the fatal encounter.
Prosecutors expect to call 35 to 45 witnesses, and the trial will continue Friday morning as the state prepares to present additional recorded evidence from 2009.
