Tirupati Laddu Prasadam Made From Palm Oil, Chemicals, Says ED, Arrests Ghee Company Owner
The agency said adulterated ghee supplied to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams was made with palm oil and chemicals, and fraudulent supplies were valued at Rs 230 crore.
- On Thursday, September 17, the Directorate of Enforcement arrested Kailash Chand Mangla, promoter of Sukriti Foods Pvt., in connection with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams ghee adulteration case.
- Investigators allege Mangla manufactured adulterated ghee using refined palm oil, palmolein, and chemicals including MG-90 and Myvacet Soft 400, falsely supplying it as Agmark Special Grade Cow Ghee to TTD.
- The agency claims fraudulent supplies to TTD from 2019 to 2024 totaled Rs 230 crore, with Mangla allegedly producing Rs 96 crore worth while maintaining false records to conceal adulterants.
- Following the arrest, Mangla was produced before a PMLA Special Court in Visakhapatnam and remanded to judicial custody as the ED investigates his coordination through various front entities.
- Previously, the ED arrested Vipin Jain, promoter of Bhole Baba Organic Dairy Milk, who is also accused of orchestrating fraudulent ghee supplies to TTD during the same period.
