SOUTH DEERFIELD — The gravestones of veterans received some extra attention from students this week ahead of the community’s annual Memorial Day ceremonies.

From Tribune staff reports TRUSSVILLE, Ala.–Trussville-based Cub Scouts Pack 216, Troop 216, Troop 216G, and the Roebuck Elks Lodge gathered to plant over 2,500 flags on the graves of veterans at Jefferson Memorial Gardens Monday evening. The groups gather every year, this being their 19th, to place the flags in observance of Memorial Day.
