Trump to headline ‘Great American State Fair’ for nation’s 250th anniversary after artists drop out
Several performers withdrew over concerns about Trump’s association with the fair, and organizers said the opening event will still go ahead.
President Donald Trump will headline the 250th anniversary celebration at the National Mall next month, replacing musical acts that withdrew from the 'Great American State Fair.'
Five of the nine scheduled musical acts, including Bret Michaels and Martina McBride, withdrew this week, citing concerns about the event's association with Trump or its 'divisive' nature.
Trump plans to replace the departing performers with his own rally, posting to Truth Social that he may "take the place of these highly paid, Third Rate 'Artists.'"
Other artists including Vanilla Ice and Flo Rida remain scheduled to attend, while organizers insist the event organized by Freedom 250 remains nonpartisan.
Freedom 250, led by a former State Department appointee, confirmed Trump will personally kick off the historic celebration on Wednesday, June 24.
