US and Indonesia reach tariff deal
BRUSSELS, JUL 16 – The EU-Indonesia deal aims to boost trade by cutting tariffs on 80% of Indonesian exports to the EU and could increase Indonesian exports by 50% within four years, officials said.
- President Donald Trump announced a trade agreement with Indonesia, requiring a 19% tariff on all Indonesian goods exported to the U.S. while U.S. exports to Indonesia will be tariff and barrier-free.
- Trump claimed the deal includes Indonesia buying 50 Boeing jets and will help balance the U.S. trade deficit with Indonesia which was $17.9 billion last year.
