Trump Media appoints media veteran Kevin McGurn as interim chief executive
Kevin McGurn, a media veteran and Trump Media adviser, will oversee the company’s social media, streaming and financial services businesses during its expansion.
- On Tuesday, Trump Media & Technology Group named Kevin McGurn as interim CEO, effective immediately, succeeding Devin Nunes, who led the company since its inception.
- Nunes, a former congressman who served as CEO since 2022, departs as Trump Media navigates significant financial challenges. The firm has lost more than $1.1 billion since going public two years ago.
- McGurn, an advisor since December 2024, brings experience from Hulu and Vevo. He will oversee Truth Social, Truth+, and the Truth financial brand across three main business lines.
- Board member Donald Trump Jr. thanked Nunes for his "dedicated service" over four years, while Nunes stated it is an "appropriate time" to focus on his role as Chairman of the President's Intelligence Advisory Board.
- Trump Media's pending merger with TAE Technologies is expected to close in mid-2026, while management considers a potential spin-off of business lines including Truth Social into a new publicly traded company.
