- After six months in office, approval among independent voters sank to 29% from 46%, with lowest marks on budget, Ukraine and trade.
- Among independents, support fell to 19% on the budget and 24% on Ukraine, while Republicans support remained at 89% and Democrats at 2% in July.
- Amid the drop, Republican backers criticized the administration’s refusal to release Epstein investigation files, and three Oversight Committee Republicans joined Democrats in issuing subpoenas for Justice Department records.
- The committee also subpoenaed Ghislaine Maxwell for deposition and requested testimony from President Bill Clinton and ex-FBI directors James Comey and Robert Mueller.
