Trump convenes Cabinet at Camp David amid simmering Iran war

- The 13th Cabinet meeting of Trump's second term follows an earlier attempt in May that was scuttled by bad weather. Trump has recently urged officials to keep reports brief to avoid lengthy sessions that previously lasted "four or five hours."
- Established during Franklin Roosevelt's presidency, the 180-acre Maryland retreat offers amenities from a main lodge with conference rooms to a bowling alley and heated swimming pool. The site has served as a secure location for presidents since 1942.
- While Trump visited the retreat nearly 15 times during his first term, he has visited sparingly in his second, most recently in June for Father's Day. The Cabinet previously convened at the White House in May.
- Presidents throughout history have used Camp David for sensitive diplomatic negotiations, including the 1978 Camp David Accords brokered by Jimmy Carter. Carter famously huddled there with representatives from across American society during his presidency.
