Trump caps his Scottish visit by opening a new golf course
SCOTLAND, JUL 29 – A viral video during Trump's Scotland trip rekindled claims of golf cheating, a recurring issue noted by public figures and documented in books about his golfing conduct.
- President Donald Trump officially opened the Trump International Golf Links course in Balmedie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, with a ribbon-cutting and fireworks, during his five-day trip.
- Drawing on his existing Scottish portfolio, the Trump Organization owns three golf courses, including Turnberry and Aberdeen .
- In remarks on the dunes course, Trump said `These are very hard to build, and you won't see them built anymore...` and `We started with a beautiful piece of land, but we made it much more beautiful...` before cutting the ribbon.
- Following the ceremony, Trump and two professional golfers teed off on the first hole, with several dozen spectators nearby during the planned 18-hole round.
- With public rounds starting, the course will host a PGA Seniors Championship later this week.
