Trump and Xi are expected to discuss tariffs, the Iran war and Taiwan as U.S. officials seek trade and investment gains.
On Thursday, President Donald Trump met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing for a bilateral summit, marking Trump's first visit to China in 9 years.
Ahead of the summit, the Embassy reiterated its position on 'four red lines' in China-US relations: 'The Taiwan Question', 'Democracy and Human Rights', 'Paths and Political Systems' and 'China's Development Right'.
Accompanied by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Trump received a ceremonial welcome at the Great Hall from the Liberation Army Honour Guard Battalion.
Discussions include Iran, trade, and technology, as Jinping stated, 'I look forward to our discussions on major issues important to our two countries and the world.'
Trump affirmed both nations will 'have a fantastic future together' and noted, 'We've had a fantastic relationship,' framing the summit as foundation for strengthened China-US ties.
The White House chief came to Beijing with three main objectives: getting China's help to press on ayatollah, signing contracts to sell American products and renewing the truce sanctioned in October in Busan
