Tropical depression as Bolts hand Wild first regulation loss
John Carlson scored twice and Dennis Hildeby made 33 saves as Tampa Bay handed Minnesota its first regulation loss.
On Thursday, the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Wild 3-2, marking Minnesota's first regulation loss of the season. Tampa Bay never trailed during the match.
The Lightning struck twice in the opening 20 minutes, creating an early two-goal deficit for Minnesota. Goalie Jesper Wallstedt said, "Its hard when they get two quick ones and youre just fighting from behind right away."
Quinn Hughes and Blake Coleman scored for Minnesota, while Dennis Hildeby stopped 33 saves in his first game with the Lightning. David Spacek replaced Defenseman Olli Maatta as a late scratch.
Coleman said, "Just losing battles, didnt execute our game plan." Wild coach John Hynes added that the team must "plat a full 60" after improving as the game progressed.
Minnesota concludes its three-game road trip on Saturday evening at Florida. The Lightning will host Minnesota on Nov. 7, when Defenseman John Carlson and Tampa Bay aim to build on their two-goal performance.
