Trip.com Group's 2026 Lunar New Year Forecast: Longer Journeys and Premium Travel Gain Momentum in the Year of the Horse

On Feb. 2, 2026, Trip.com Group said bookings climbed by double digits for Lunar New Year 2026, with long‑haul and premium choices rising.
Extended public holidays in China, Vietnam, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines enable travelers to extend breaks to nine days, prompting longer trips, Trip.com said.
Trip.com data show cross-border stays of seven nights or more rose nearly 40%, long-haul bookings surged over 50%, and first-class, business-class, and five-star hotel demand climbed sharply.
Europe and Oceania are emerging as top long‑haul picks, with UK and New Zealand bookings to China each up more than 150% and Australia arrivals from China up over 100%.
To support inbound and transit travel, Trip.com expanded airport and transit services, including an 'Explore Beijing' Starter Pack available from February, and promoted packaged tours such as U.S. and Japan itineraries.
