The Fatal Explosion of the Rue De Treviso in Paris: the Trial Postponed After the Municipal Elections

The date of the hearing was set this Friday, May 23. The City of Paris and the trustee Cipa will finally be tried from October 20 to December 7, 2026 and not in February-March as originally scheduled.

Before the court specified those dates, Paris City lawyers had argued that the trial should not interfere with the municipal elections scheduled for March 2026, when a hearing had been envisaged during the election period.

The City and the condominium trustee will appear from October 20 to December 7, 2026 in Paris for homicides and involuntary injuries.

The City of Paris will be tried from 20 October to 7 December 2026 before the Correctional Court for the explosion of the rue de Treviso. A trial will take place after the municipal elections. On 12 January 2019, four people died and more than 200 others were injured as a result of a gas leak.

The lawyers of the City of Paris, who pleaded that the trial should not interfere with the election, were heard causing the anger of the victims' association.

Four years after the tragedy that has cost the lives of four people, the Correctional Court finally fixes the date of the trial for involuntary homicides.
