Tree honoring USS Massachusetts rededicated
FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) –An American elm tree honoring the USS Massachusetts in Fall River’s Heritage State Park was rededicated Wednesday morning. The new plaque honors the ship that is located Battleship Cove. The tree was originally planted in 2019, and the elm tree was chosen as that was the tree that George Washington stood under when he took charge of the Continental Army in 1775.
