Trapped boy dangles from moving bus in Australia
Ventura Bus Lines said it will review driver training after the boy was dragged about 350 metres and later developed anxiety, the company said.
- On March 16, 12-year-old Nathaniel was dragged 350m along Brandon Park Drive in Wheelers Hill after his arm and backpack became trapped in a closing bus door as he exited the vehicle.
- The bus driver unknowingly closed the rear doors before Nathaniel had fully exited, prompting the vehicle to continue along its route with the boy trapped on the exterior.
- Footage shows Nathaniel gripping an internal safety rail to avoid the road while narrowly missing parked cars; Ventura Bus terminated the driver following an investigation.
- Ventura Bus apologized for "not delivering a service to your expectations," though Nathaniel's mother, Grace, alleged the company's response has been "very dismissive" about her son's trauma.
- Premier Jacinta Allan contacted the Transport Accident Commission to launch an investigation, while Nathaniel continues seeing a psychologist to manage anxiety and panic attacks from the incident.
