Arsenal Sign Former Leeds Goalkeeper Meslier on Free Transfer
The 26-year-old will compete with David Raya and Kepa Arrizabalaga after Arsenal sealed its second summer signing, officials said.
- On Thursday, Arsenal announced the signing of former Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier as a free agent, with the 26-year-old Frenchman completing his medical in London on Tuesday.
- During seven seasons at Leeds, the goalkeeper made 215 appearances in all competitions, including 107 in the Premier League, after beginning his career at hometown club Lorient and debuting at 18.
- "I cannot wait to win trophies with this team," Meslier said, citing his desire to develop his skills and gain game time after missing significant action last year.
- In Mikel Arteta's squad, the goalkeeper will compete with first-choice David Raya, the 2025-26 Premier League Golden Glove winner, and Kepa Arrizabalaga.
- Ahead of Arsenal's opening league match against newly promoted Coventry City on August 21, Meslier will wear the number 30 shirt and join pre-season training.
